Choosing the Right Venue for Your Wedding

Finding the perfect venue for your special day can be challenging for some, so I wanted to share a few things to look out for as you are on your search for the venue that will meet your wants and needs!

1.     What is the maximum capacity?  You want to make sure the venue can hold all of your attendees!

2.     What is included with the rental fee, such as set up/tear down, tables, chairs, linens, etc.?

3.     What time can you get into the building and what time does everyone need to be out?  Will they charge an extra fee to come in and decorate early?  What time do decorations need to be removed?

4.     What are the rules for bar service and bartending?  Is there a certain company that you must use for bar service or will the venue allow any company in that has the appropriate license and insurance?

5.     Is there an exclusive caterer, preferred caterers, or can you bring in your own licensed catering company?

6.     Does the venue demand a percentage from the caterer?  If so, you will want to let your caterer know this, and it will generally be passed on to you, the client.

7.  What is their restroom capacity.  This is often overlooked, but you don't want all your guests lined up to use the restroom.  Make sure they have adequate facilities for your guests count.

There are many things to consider as you are choosing a venue, but this should help get you started!
